Eschatology, False Prophets and Higher Knowledge
This comment, along with the rest of it in the next three headings below, was submitted regarding the 1,335 days series. Although the comment says little, it does raise some interesting questions.
“Religious zealots have been making ridiculous eschatological claims based on barmy interpretations of scripture since the year dot.”
I agree with this statement, somewhat. However, it is a grandiose generalization. This says something unfortunate regarding the Christian religion and its attempts to understand prophecy. There are plenty of web sites where prophecies are thrown about with abandon and carelessness and present insane (”barmy”) private interpretations of prophecy. In spite of their wild attempts, the wannabe prophets cannot explain the real meaning because their “private interpretations” don’t make sense. The authors of these pages often use very colorful maps and time lines where they throw in the times of Daniel and John based upon private musings. And yes these are the religious zealots and they do make ridiculous eschatological claims, much to their shame and future embarrassment.
The writer of the above comment has a wordpress blog site. In it, we don’t know anything about them, they claim that they wish to remain anonymous.
We have, for the moment, chosen to remain anonymous on account of not being sure that someone won’t take some odd exception to something on the site and come and break our hips. So we’re testing the water.
I had similar feelings, but decided to face any “odd exception[s] to something” head on.
A word about eschatology (not scatology): this is a Christian body of material usually known as “Eschatology 101 and 102″ that focuses on the “end of the world,” even though the Scriptures contain few prophecies concerning the end of life on earth and even fewer about the end of the earth itself, which, by the way, is to be replaced in the distant future by a new heaven and new earth.
The problem with eschatology is that it assumes something that isn’t true before you walk through the classroom doors on day one: the world is going to be destroyed and only the Christians will survive! Everyone else will die, because they did not either “believe” or “submit” to the religion called Christianity.
The “since the year dot” phrase in the comment raises some flags: If the writer included Enoch, Daniel, and the Prophets and Apostles in this broad generality, then that puts the comment writer on the side of those who killed the Prophets and the Apostles, and the Messiah. If so, then I have to conclude that what I write here would not be understood by him or her or them and I should stop here.
But I think I should assume that is not the case and move on.
“Why should any one believe you?”
Understand this. Prophecy does not require that anyone believe it for it to be true, does it? Believing in prophecy will not change the outcome, nor will ignorance make it go away. The only reasons that you would ever believe me is because,
(1) The prophecy that I wrote about came to pass, not because I am prophet, but because what I wrote is from the writings of the prophets themselves, from Scripture, and I provided this knowledge to you. But that could only happen after the fact! Then it may be too late for the prophecy may have contained actions that you could have taken that would have changed the outcome for you!
(2) If what I wrote is the truth, and you don’t see that now, then it remains your task to examine the evidence to see if what I wrote is the truth. For this reason, I provided tools for you to use to do this. And if I failed to explain the evidence clearly or if I left something out, then that can be corrected. But if what I wrote is not the truth, then I really am in trouble. I would be in the same trouble as all those who wrote without understanding and instead expressed their opinion: something as worthless as “teats on a boar,” as the old saying goes.
“Where did you get that Ph.D?”
Scholarship is as bad as religion. Actually, degrees are really trappings of the world and have no value in the Domain of the Elahim. When we appear before our Father, is he going to ask us if we had a Theology degree? Will that be the qualifier that will make us a King or a Priest to serve the rest of humanity? Not at all! But have scholars proven, one way or another, that we really will appear before the Father?
Now don’t misunderstand. There have been many great contributions to humanity as a result of good and honest research.
But in many other cases the research was not honest, nor were the results helpful and beneficial. Such is the world and its educational systems. I have known “scholars” who later “recanted” their theses. And that made me ask the question, “How do young scholars, lacking the wisdom that Life offers, come to the point where they can produce great theses?” Time and again, I have heard others reflect back on their life during their twenties and proclaim that time to be the “stupid years.” The current sad conditions of the young adults in today’s world provides substantiating evidence of this fact.
It is not appropriate for me to say, “Well, I graduated from Harvard, or Cambridge, or Oxford, and because of that I am now qualified to share what they taught me with you.” Why? Because as far as I know, no seminary, church Bible school, college or university taught anything about which I now write. Instead, while in school, I had to keep my head down and my mouth shut. Therefore, because I did not get this material from them, why should I give them the credit?
“What was the title of you [sic] thesis?”
What can be said about scholarship, etc., can also be said about theses. The trek to a Ph.D. leads one toward greater and greater brain function reduction. At the end you know more and more and maybe more than anyone about a very highly specialized subject that very few people would ever care about. It is a game, sorry to say. So how does one survive this scholastic mess? By recognizing the game, transcending it, and playing it better than those who are wallowing in it and blind to it. If you succeed you will not be plagued with a decrease in IQ, which studies have shown to be a by-product of going through this process. Instead, you should come out as a generalist with wisdom, understanding and knowledge. But, wait a second! Are not wisdom and understanding the product of a spiritual process, which is something that schools cannot teach? The title of my thesis is not important and means little. What is important is the wisdom, understanding and knowledge one can gain through the growing number of articles in this blog, and, in particular, understanding the truth about the 1,335 days and why that is important for humanity! It is NOT a discussion or proposition about religion, but it is the revealed truth about our life and the future life of all that exists!
=======================================
To say that we are smarter than our fathers is both unprofitable and unwise. Some of the oldest surviving documents contain wisdom (about which most know little) that still applies in our modern and “enlightened” time. The following is from the Mundaka Upanishad, Translated by Eknath Easwaran:
“What is that by knowing which ALL is known?”
He replied, “The illumined sages say knowledge is two-fold, higher and lower. The study of the Vedas, linguistics, rituals, astronomy, and all the arts can be called lower knowledge. The higher is that which leads to Self-realization. The eye cannot see it; mind cannot grasp it.”
The rituals and the sacrifices described in the Vedas deal with lower knowledge. The sages ignored these rituals and went in search of higher knowledge.
Such rituals are unsafe rafts for crossing the sea of life, of birth and death. Doomed to shipwreck are those who try to cross the sea of life on these poor rafts.
Ignorant of their ignorance, yet wise in their own esteem, these deluded men [and women], proud of their own vain learning, go round and round like the blind led by the blind. Living in darkness, immature, unaware of any higher good or goal, they fall again and again into the sea.
But those who are pure in heart, who practice meditation and conquer their senses and passions, shall attain the immortal Self, Source of all Light and Source of all Life.
Action prompted by pleasure or profit cannot help anyone to cross this sea.
Seek a teacher who has realized the Self.
To a student whose heart is full of love, who has conquered his [or her] senses and passions, the teacher will reveal the Lord of Love.
The Lord of Love is above name and form. He is present in all and transcends all. Fire is his head. The sun and moon his eyes. The heavens his ears. The Scripture his voice.
The Lord of Love is the one Self of all. He is detached work, spiritual wisdom, and immortality. Realize the Self hidden in the heart, and cut asunder the knot of ignorance here and now.
This is from documents that transcend time and space. Some think they came through the flood with Noah. What they teach is true now and will remain true tomorrow. Can they be proven by the scientific method? Yes, but only if the scientists are willing to humble themselves and clear their minds of thought and ego. They must become the observers of the Lord of Love, the one Self of all, performing his work in them, through them, and as them. This “hypothesis” has been proven to be true time after time in the lives of many people, and the only way you can prove it to yourself is to become a participant. You must be part of the process, not separate from it.
Bright but hidden, the Self dwells in the heart. Everything that moves, breathes, opens, closes, lives in the Self. He is the Source of Love and may be known through love but not through thought.
He is the Goal of Life. Attain this Goal!
The shining Self dwells hidden in the heart. Everything in the cosmos, great and small, lives in the Self. He is the Source of Life, truth beyond the transience of this world.
He is the Goal of Life. Attain this Goal!
From Me, I wrote this.
